Yesterday I did some interesting discovery – oppo’s firmware do support progressive output on component connection!
Unfortunately my plasma panel do not support progressive scan on component so I can not test this feature.

I think I could test it if You send me or I can download it here.

Eman, I hope You can recover player if somethig goes wrong:)
I’ll create test version of the firmware where change one of the existing menu item (for example PBC in preferences) and sent it to you. After your testing if all goes correct I’ll create final version of the firmware whrere I’ll add new menu item. Is it suitable?

I had made alive 2 times my “dead” Oppo 971 after flashing it with SigmaTek 600 and Oppo 981 firmware via CD.
For every Oppo 971 customer: Caution! NONE of these firmwares above works with Oppo 971!
BUT I could reflash my Oppo with a real Oppo 971 firmware via cable (& MTK Tool software on my PC)
So I can try these experimental firmware (for test)

thanks in advance

Eman, I sent test firmware this morning to you.
31. January, 2007 at 06:51
ok, I’ve just caught it.
31. January, 2007 at 19:49
So, did it work????
2. February, 2007 at 01:54
It worsks not. I had tried many setup variations, but it didn’t help. I’m sorry. (Video1/Video2, 480p/576p)
2. February, 2007 at 02:21
Eman, And what does it happen when you change PBC menu item on/off? Absolutely nothing?
2. February, 2007 at 04:49
If I turn it “on” I get “no signal”. It works not.
If I leave it “off” then everything is ok.
2. February, 2007 at 05:50
OK. So, something happens. Very good. Does your TV accept progressive scan on component from some other source than oppo? Just to be sure that this “no signal” actually means no signal:)

Hi Andy007 and others,
Andy, could you send me your beta firmware for test on my Optoma?
Thanks.
Ciao

Yes, progressive scan over component video out works by me with CyberHome CH-DVD635S (with the same LCD TV).
2. February, 2007 at 09:44
OK. Than I think just did not find extra code that switched output off if there is progressive flag is set. I’ll continue to work on this.

hi, can i please test the 480p firmware progressive output on component connection?
19. February, 2007 at 02:02
guych, No you can not. Firmware still misses some initialization code. But I think I can add it in the future. Note that its not a high priority task for me.
