Works great! Andy, thanks a lot!

The ZIP seems to be corrupt. I have tried it in 2 different computers.
Does this happen to anyone?
Thx
10. August, 2006 at 01:01
As I understand, at least aoleg successfully downloaded this ZIP and updated his player.

Could you please add option for RGB on scart output
for european users :/
10. August, 2006 at 13:29
Thanks Andy, Works great, used Nero to burn.
11. August, 2006 at 00:53
pusle, It maybe will be added to bbk985s mod of this firmware but this feature has very low priority besause mysefl interested in HDMI output, not the SCART/RGB.
11. August, 2006 at 04:58
How to burn this baby? Imgburn (2.0.0.0) says “Invalid or unsupported image file format!” Nero will accept the image file if you manually set some parameters…but I don’t know which ones
11. August, 2006 at 05:06
Crap! I should obviously burn the 935.BIN file to a cd in iso mode…I thought the 935.bin was an iso image file!
11. August, 2006 at 18:42
What about scrolling of mp3 file names in this one?
Would it be possible to have full screen (no id tag preview) + scrolling with as much of characters supported as possible?
14. August, 2006 at 00:44
Trance Dog, Yes I plan to do such feature, but not without id tag - they will be moved under browser.
19. August, 2006 at 12:37
hey, I’m one of those poor souls that’s saddened by the lack of support for some Dualdisc DVD-Audio MLP layers… you guys have a line on that that you could pass around? If you also do Pioneer firmware hacking they’ve supposedly fixed the (similar) problem..
Love the work that’s gone into this, thanks so much for everything…
25. August, 2006 at 06:42
Thanks a lot! Keep’em coming!
3. September, 2006 at 23:54
In the nearest future I’ll upload to site new version of the firmware with wide (50 chars with scrolling) and high (9 lines) filebrowser
7. September, 2006 at 00:44
It would be very nice if you could implement the extra features of your 0220 based modd:
+ Pan&Scan mode works for all anamorphic DVDs
+ Full width file list browser
+ Changed Audio Setup: Equalizer moved to a new page, added Super bass, Bass boost, Treble boost settings
+ Extended SPDIF setup
+ MP3 ID v1 tag display on the bottom of the browser
Thanks, Andy! I’ll test it if you solve these. You’re REALLY great!
7. September, 2006 at 04:57
Yes. I am working on it. I am testing version for BBK985S but it can be easily adopted for Oppo. It will be done right after finishing BBK version.
I am already implemented 9 line filebrowser and now ready to implement other features of 0220 mod.

andy, THANKS a lot for your work, can’t wait for that new version.
Regards from Spain

QUESTION: … can the F/W be upgraded to support DivX bigger than 720 x 480 ?
… and for that matter. Surround Sound DivX ?
10. September, 2006 at 09:13
One last Wish list…. Selectable 4:3 to 16:9 on DivX playback.
11. September, 2006 at 00:44
720 x 480 is a hardware limitation.
12. September, 2006 at 04:32
anyone can imagine why i get these strange lines and dots whenever i set oppo to 1080i or 720p?

thanks
12. September, 2006 at 06:04
OK… Last question … support for MP3 surround sound ?
(I know that the MODs are made at the assembly level… is it an ARM processor ? … are extensive changes less possible than twaeks to Conditional Instructions ? e.g. UOP ? )
12. September, 2006 at 07:50
jshooter - bad hdmi cabel.
hugh - Yes, it is assembly level changes. but can you imagine amount of work to implement new codec? Without source codes of original ARM part.
12. September, 2006 at 08:05
andy, i’ve tried two cables (both of them dvi-d single link), would it be fixed with a dual link cable?
i’ll look for one of those. Thanks!
12. September, 2006 at 16:08
Cheers Andy … nice work - given your disassembling and hacking ! I’m Impressed ! … I’ve not coded in ASM in years… it’s all C++ now !

I am getting an ‘unkown disk’ when I try the update.
I’ve tried making the CDs on two different systems.
I am unpacking the zip and burning the 935.BIN file to CD (as a single session data CD). The resulting CD has the file 935.BIN in the parent directory.
I have installed other updates in the past without issue. I was able to burn the .iso image from the oppo site using the same software and batch of disks I am using now. The only difference is the oppo update I burned as a .iso image and the file from here as a data file (since it isn’t an image).

I am using CDRW disc and disc label MEDIATEK
14. September, 2006 at 01:26
i tried a dual link cable and no luck. I suppose it has to be the player
Thanks and regards
26. September, 2006 at 11:21
Nice! For those with Nero 5, start a new ISO CD, copy the downloaded 935.BIN file into it, burn with finalize. Feels great to skip that junk with just one click…

Thank you so much, I have grown to hate UPOs and this hacked firmware is life saver! Keep up the good work!
17. October, 2006 at 23:07
When does the next version of the hacked firmware come out? Latest from OPPO is: Ver: 05.00.01.07 Batch: 11-0830, 11-0830B and 10-0821B Release Date: September 22, 2006
4. November, 2006 at 23:45
Thanks for your work on the firmware. I’ve been using them for a while and I’m looking forward to the next version.
Is there any way to fix the random angle display bug which has yet to be addressed by Oppo?
23. November, 2006 at 14:33
Andy, I’m also interested in scart support for the 971H, and also for the European Q-Play remote. Could you please send an e-mail if you would add it in the future?
24. November, 2006 at 02:05
T,
SCART support is implemented in 0220 series.
0720 is still under development. I can be sure that Qplay will be added, but I do not need SCART anymore so I do not want spend my time on feature that I do not interested in.

Thanks for the firmware andy, it is excellent.
I have one small request.
I have the Cambridge Audio DVD79, and i use your oppo firmware, as it is pretty much the same player as the oppo. Unfortunately when I use the Oppo fw i cannot use the buttons on the front af the player - annoying. Is it possible for you to copy the button control part of the cambridge FW and insert it in the Oppo FW?
Cambridge unfortunately doesn’t support the player with FW anymore, and when they did they were pretty bad at it.
It would be nice if you could do it, but of course if it is to much of a problem then I will understand.

18. December, 2006 at 06:59

Hi Andy,
Is there any chance to go on with your modding of the 0720 (or newer) firmware?
9. January, 2007 at 02:11
Recently I released new 0720 mod for BBK985. Maybe today or tomorrow will be released oppo971 version of it.
